INTRODUCTION

By Emotional Intelligence an individual perceives his actions and those of others and manages emotions and actions accordingly.

As the form of man’s intelligence is concerned, different psychologists have different opinions but most of them consider it an aggregate of different types of mental abilities. But, if we believe this is right than the person with more mental abilities should be more successful than others in any given field. It is also true that people with lower intelligence get more success than those with higher intelligence.

Edward Lee Thorndike was the first one who paid attention to this fact. On the basis of his studies he divided it in 3 classes-

  1. Mechanical or Motor Intelligence
  2. Abstract Intelligence
  3. Social Intelligence

After him Prof. John Mayer and Dr. Peter Salve discussed about it.

They stated Emotional Intelligence is that ability of a man by which he succeeds to understand his own and other’s emotions and conduct himself accordingly.

After them Daniel Goleman explained it in his book EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE (1905) in detail therefore he is considered as the proponent.
